Whirlwind by Robert Liparulo

I also wrote reviews of Gatekeepers and Timescape. Five down, one to go…

Rating: [2/5]

***Spoiler alert!***

Summary: Whirlwind continues the adventures of the King family, picking up right where the action left off in Timescape. After narrowly escaping Taksidian yet again, the Kings must regroup. Toria and Mr. King try to find out what world Phemus comes from with the help of an old friend, while Xander and David make an important-and dangerous-discovery about how the portals work. When they return, they find that Phemus has attacked the house yet again. They follow him into his world, only to discover that this legendary place is more important than they could have imagined.

Likes: Whirlwind was okay. The character development is still good, and the mythology towards the end of the book was quite intriguing.

Dislikes: Overall, Whirlwind kind of bored me. I didn’t feel like the pacing or the plot was quite as strong as the other books in the series. The beginning and the end were okay, but the middle was fairly bland in comparison. While I still enjoy the series, Whirlwind was probably my least favorite so far.

TL;DR: I’d recommend Whirlwind to anyone who has read the other books in The Dreamhouse Kings series. Obviously, you should read the other books in the series before starting this one.

Agree? Disagree? Let me know!
