Frenzy by Robert Liparulo

This is the end of the Dreamhouse Kings series! You can read my reviews of Gatekeepers, Timescape, and Whirlwind by clicking the links.

Rating: [3/5]

***Spoiler alert!***

Summary: Frenzy starts off with a bang. David has been killed by Taksidian. Then the story cuts back to the past, continuing to chronicle the King family’s search for their mother and mission to stop Taksidian. It is on a visit to Jesse’s world in the past that Xander and David discover the horrible truth–David is going to die soon. Xander is determined to keep this from happening. At the climax, Toria believes she spots their mother through one of the portals right as Taksidian becomes desperate and openly attacks the family. Will they finally find their mother and will David survive to be reunited with her?

Likes: Frenzy was interesting. The story really got good towards the end. The resolution was satisfying and the final showdown was fairly nerve-wracking. However, I think the character development is this book’s strongest feature.

Dislikes: I have to admit, I got a little bit sick of this series by the fifth book. I felt like the whole book was spent doing the same old thing, until the plot advanced in the final hour.

TL;DR: Overall, I liked the Dreamhouse Kings series. However, I would probably only wholeheartedly recommend it to younger readers.
