The Diamond of Darkhold is the final book in the Ember series. I was fortunate enough to find this book in hardback at my local Half Price Books. Except now I have all the other books in paperback. Don’t you hate when that happens? You can check out The Diamond of Darkhold here.
Summary: Lina and Doon are heading back to Ember when the town of Sparks begins to suffer through the bitter winter. A roamer sold Doon a book clearly meant for the people of Ember, though there are only eight pages left. Doon is convinced that whatever they find will be able to help the people of Sparks survive the winter, and maybe even understand the mysteries of electricity. However, not everything goes according to plan when Doon is kidnapped by Ember’s most current residents.
Likes: I really like how the series was resolved. I enjoy both Lina and Doon as characters and I liked where their arcs took them.
Dislikes: The plot was a little slow and it seemed liked their struggle was a bit too easy at times. Compared to the puzzle of the first book, this puzzle was nothing.
TL;DR: I would recommend this book to any fans of the series or for any who are interested in dystopian or post-apocalyptic literature.
